I'd like to make an introduction...
Kerry Wood, bullpen...bullpen, Kerry Wood.
I've been yammering about this to ANYONE who would listen for about 2-3 weeks. I realize he has control issues...but SOMETHING needs to be done. And now I think people in the front office are FINALLY beginning to consider the option.
From The Tribune:
Although there are no concrete plans, the idea of moving Wood to the bullpen, at least for 2005, seems to be one many in the organization endorse.
That's not to say the Cubs will make the switch. Because of the mysterious shoulder soreness, however, they are thinking about the possibility for the first time.
There was this talk going around during the NLCS a couple years ago. I don't think Kerry is ever going to be a 20-game winner. He's never won more than 14 games in a season. He could save 40 games for a good club, and the Cubbies would be a much better club if they could hold a lead past the 7th inning.
